Croatian Minister of Culture visited Paris on 4 October 2005 to take part in UNESCO’s 33rd General Assembly where he addressed representatives of 197 member states. Besides speaking about protection and reconstruction of cultural heritage and 60 years of UNESCO’a activities at the assembly, Buskupic had several meetings with important UNESCO’s officials – Director General Koichiro Matsura and director World Heritage Center Francesco Bandarin. Both officials extended their compliments to Croatian accomplishments in the area of heritage protection, and also commended swiftness of passing the UNESCO’s conventions in Croatia.
The goal of the meetings was the presentation of the new tentative list of Croatian heritage for UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Priorities on the Croatian tentative list is the field of Stari Grad on island Hvar– one of the best preserved remains of ancient Greek agricultural planning, and the well known Croatian lace.
